Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodendra Swamigal was a contemporary of Sri Shridhara Ayyaval. Sri Bodendra Swamigal had deep reverence for Sri Shridhara Ayyaval. They used to meet often and enjoy the bliss of talking about the glory of the Lord. Though Sri Shridhara Ayyaval saw no difference in the prowess of Lord Shiva's name and Lord Vishnu's name he loved chanting the names of Lord Shiva. Similarly, Sri Bodendra loved the name of Rama more than anything. When Sri Bodendra Swamigal read the work of Sri Shridhara Ayyaval named 'Aakya Shashti', which primarily talked only about the greatness of Lord Shiva's names in sixty verses, he said, "You could have named this work as 'Shivaakyashashti' instead of 'Aakya Shashti'! Though all the names of the Lord are equally sweet and powerful, you have chosen to sing the greatness of only one of them! Why is it so? Don't you like singing the divine Name of Lord Rama?" The moment Sri Shridhara Ayyaval heard this from the great saint, he replied in a beautiful verse emphasizing the greatness of the Divine Name of Lord Rama. "While Lord Shiva, the glory of whose name I have sung in these sixty verses, himself does not cease to chant the Divine Name Rama even for a moment out of such taste and love for that name, how can I dare to describe the beauty and glory of the Divine Name of Rama?"

 

Sri Bodendra Swamigal shed tears of joy hearing this verse.

In fact, Lord Siva Himself chants the 'Rama' mantra all the time. Hence you are absolutely right in chanting the Rama mantra.

 

It is the Name that Lord Siva and His Consort Părvati chant! That removes sorrow and bestows peace!

Atonce Lord Shiva said "it is enough if one chants the name "Rama."

Divine Name protects one the instant 'IT' is uttered!

 

A wise man, whether he has no desire at all or is actuated by all sorts of desires or seeks liberation should worship the Supreme Lord with intense devotion

 

You have wished for 'Dharma', 'Artha' (wealth), 'Kama' (ambitions) and 'Moksha' (God). All these four can be attained by performing service to Lord Sri Hari.

 

If we are remembering the Divine name, we are psychologically sound.

 

A fire-lantern not only illuminates but also provides us heat, though unintended. A gas stove provides us light in addition to the heat that we intended to get out of it. Likewise….

 

The 'Mantra bearing' arrow chases him and does not rest till it hits the victim. Similarly, Năma – Lord's Name - is like the arrow that bears the Mantra

Meaning

 

One should always Chant the Name of Hari, keeping away any second. But, alas, such mastery in the awareness of Unity is rare. First one must practice the vision of equality; only Hari must be seen everywhere. For this, the mind and senses must be restrained. When all these essential requirements are fulfilled, one merges in Hari, and becomes Hari, Himself.

 

Just as one solitary Sun Manifests in countless rays of light, One solitary supreme Being, Lord Rama, Manifests Himself in all these countless forms.

 

Jnanadev says: My mind is fixed on one unfailing practice; the chanting of Hari's name. Thus, I've attained liberation.

தியானத்தைக் காட்டிலும்  கீர்த்தனமே சிறந்தது. தியானம் செய்வதற்க்கு பகவானின் ரூபம் தேவை. அவனுடைய ரூபத்தை நாம் பார்த்ததில்லை.  கீர்த்தனம் செய்ய பகவானின் நாமமே தேவை. அது நமக்கு நன்கு தெரியும்.

 

Chanting the Divine Names is better than Dhyana. For Dhyana we need the form of the Lord, which we have not seen.

 

For Chanting the Divine Names we need only the Name of the Lord. We know that very well.

Thus we are able to comprehend to a certain extent that there is no difference between the Name of the Lord and the Lord. Don't we?

 

Feeling that these Forms alone will not suffice for redemption of the world He also became the Divine Names such as 'Hari!' 'Siva!' and is ever alive in these Names.

 

It is verily the Name of the Supreme One - the one who creates, sustains and rests it in Himself

 

Name and the Named are but one

 

God, Guru, Srimad Bhagavatam and God's Divine Name --- all are one and the same.

 

The Divine Name of the Lord ('Bhagavan Năma') has the power to redeem one and all.

 

The name is essence

 

With the external support, says Kabir, is the Supportless known

 

For every word there is a meaning which is inseparable

 

Even though there is complete identity between God and His name, the former closely follows the latter

 

Thus it is clear that we cannot identify an object without knowing its Name

 

Through the practice of the Name preceded by its true appraisement, however the same Brahma reveals itself even as a value of a jewel is revealed by its correct knowledge.

நாம் இருக்கும் இடத்தை சுத்தமாக வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். நாம் உண்ணும் உணவு சுத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். நாம் உடுக்கின்ற உடைகள் சுத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். நாம் நம் உடலை சுத்தமாக வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். இவ்வளவு இருந்தும் மனது சுத்தமாக இல்லை என்றால் ஒரு பலனும் இல்லை. மனது சுத்தமாக கிருஷ்ண கீர்த்தனம் ஒன்றே வழி.

 

We should keep our place clean. We should ensure that we intake clean food. We should wear clean clothes. We should keep our body clean. After ensuring all these if our mind is not pure there is no use of any of the above. For keeping our mind clean Chanting the Names of Krishna is the only way.
