Let the young man remember Him constantly and pray to Him to give him peace and joy.

Nama Article 10th February 2012

Question: A young man of 29, with a tumour in the brain, asked me how he can really thank God in the state in which he is. I did not know what to reply.

Swami Papa Ramdas

It is not that he should thank God for what he is, but pray to God in that situation that his mind may dwell in Him, and whatever happens to his body be left to God in implicit surrender to Him. Disease has come not only to him. He has not been singled out for it. There are so many who have been stricken with physical and mental diseases. The mind is filled with so many low, grovelling desires. In this state the mind is said to be highly diseased. Just as there is a tumour, cancer or some other disease of the body, so also there are diseases of the mind. These must be removed first and this can be done only by thinking of God and by surrendering ourselves to Him.

When death comes near to us, we are frightened. It is that fear that makes us take refuge in Him. Difficulties help in bringing us nearer to God. They may be either physical, mental or circumstantial. There are so many who would have forgotten God and be immersed in worldly pleasures, doing many evil things, had not some trouble turned their minds towards God. They say: "O God, You have brought this tribulation on me in order to draw my mind towards You." In this case, if the young man takes the Name and remembers God, leaving his malady to His decision, he can make himself happy. Very often, by God's grace, incurable diseases get cured. So, let this young man believe in God and think of Him. By His grace he will be cured of his trouble, however difficult it may appear to be in the eyes of the doctors. The Doctor of doctors is God. He can cure people of the worst of diseases when He wills.

Let the young man remember Him constantly and pray to Him to give him peace and joy.

One thing can be said for certain. God is perfect. An imperfection cannot come from the perfect.

It is a universal experience that every calamity brings the sensible man down on his knees

A person's bad temper is reflected in his words – he throws tantrums. Likewise, God's anger is reflected as the natural calamities

So if we want to use this sense organ of speech totally for divine life, we can do so without much troubles. That is verily the greatness of Nama sankirtan.

Nama Article 9th February 2012

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

We have no control over what we see; even if we want to see only things divine, We are forced to see things not so fine.

We have no control over what we hear; even if we want to hear only divine voices, we cannot help hearing worldly noises.

We have no control over what we touch and feel; even if we want to touch only things godly, worldly things touch us so badly.

We have no control over what we smell; even if we want to smell ony prasada of the Lord, foul odours gets in on its own accord.

We have no control over what we eat; though we want to eat only what is soulfully consecrated to the Lord, we scarcely get such prasada.

We have no control of where we go; even if we want to stay only in divine places, we cannot truly be so.

But there is one organ on which we have full control - which can do what we truly want it to -- the organ of speech.

So if we want to use this sense organ totally for divine life, we can do so without much troubles.

That is verily the greatness of Nama sankirtan.

The Name of Hari has such power to remove sins that even the most sinful man cannot do enough sins!

Nama Article 8th February 2012

Source: Brihad Vishnu Purana

There is a verse which says: "The Name of Hari has such power to remove sins that even the most sinful man cannot do enough sins!"

नामनेऽस्य यावती शक्ति : पापनिर्हरणे हरे:।

तावत्कर्तुं न शकनेति पातकं पातकी जन:॥

(बृहद्विष्णुपुराण)

The dried grass set on fire unites with the fire; Likewise, one who chants Hari's name gets united into Him.

You are never so poor that you cannot do anything for others

If one cannot do even this (simple thing) one has no way out at all!

What is there in this world that devotion to the Lord cannot do?

Name is constantly pure, and the impurest, on taking the Name, becomes completely pure.

Such people need not hesitate or feel shy on this ground; they CAN sing the Divine Name of the Lord boldly and cheerfully

From sunrise till sunset, you work to earn a living,

Flattering, supplicating, and obliging others,

Only chant this simple prayer, Hare Rama

Catch hold of this divine Name and go on doing your work in the world.

Death shows, never, any compassion, Be mindful and only chant this simple prayer, Hare Rama

Hanuman worked tirelessly for Rama. He also performed incessant Rama japa. We should also be like this.

Nothing we earn today would come with us to the final destination but only the Divine Name WILL

One should constantly repeat the names of God irrespective of any activity that he might be involved in

While you concentrate on your studies and prepare yourself for your future, you also need God's grace.

As long as you search for peace outside yourself, you will not attain it. To find the peace within you, please chant the Mahamantra always, thinking of Lord Krishna and surrendering to Him.

People perform actions for the sake of happiness; but they neither attain happiness nor succeed in ending their sorrow thereby

Lord Rama says, "Any accumulated wealth will dissolve in due time. Any position of power attained will come to an end. All the relations (children, wife) come to an end in death. There is nothing in this world that is permanent."

When he continues to chant, with patience and perseverance, eventually his devotion becomes strong enough that the ills of the world don’t affect him any more.

Nama Article 4th February 2012

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

When cattle devour a newly planted mango sapling, it struggles to live and grow more leaves. But surpassing these struggles, when the plant grows into a tree, then the cattle are no more a threat it. Likewise, when one's devotion is in the initial stages, the ills of the world affect him to a large extent.

When he continues to chant, with patience and perseverance, eventually his devotion becomes strong enough that the ills of the world don't affect him any more.

The mind is enslaved to habits. Only by constant practice one can get rid of habits. The best way to overcome it is to chant with patience and perseverance.

Faith is even greater than God.......Unshakable faith and patience are the two coins that one should offer to Guru as offering

"From this very moment I am going to change my way of life," and began to do japa of Rama Nama incessantly.......The Lord's Name purifies us however sinful a life we might have led.
