There are very few who Chant His Name as an unfailing daily practice. It is only those who Chant may gain the grace and Lord Sri Hari, Lakshmi Devi's Lord is nearer to them.

Bhukthi (worldly comforts) and mukthi (liberation) dwell in the house of those who chant "Narayanahari, Narayanahari"

Those who do not Chant; their life is truly a hell. They would suffer at Hell punished by Yama, the god of death.

Jnanadev says: When I asked my Guru, Nivruththinatha, the value of the name of God,
Nivruththinatha told me, "Name is greater than that of the sky above (larger than the vast space)."

How simple it is, yet how difficult for many whose love for the Beloved is not as intense as their attachment to the perishable baubles of the world!

Nama Article 24th February 2013

Swami Papa Ramdas

Call on the Lord - the Beloved. Have you found anything sweeter than His Name, more charming   than the sound of His Name? If you have real love for the Lord you will reply: "Certainly, I have not." Then there is no need for anybody to tell you that you should sing on His Name and be inebriated with the Divine ecstasy associated with it. You will find your life has changed into a song of eternity. Who could adequately describe in words the wonderful glory of the Beloved's Name? He who has tasted alone knows what it is like. O! taste it and let the Name illumine your heart and intellect and fill you with floods of joy. Sing on His Name with all love and devotion and embrace the Beloved in the recesses of your heart. What blessedness then is yours!

Can you now hold such a precious possession in comparison with all the riches of the world? Name, fame and wealth in this evanescent world are as nothing to you when your heart has once drunk the nectar of the Beloved's Name. Therefore, sing on His Name with onepointed devotion. The Beloved awaits you; you have only to take His Name and He runs to you. How simple it is, yet how difficult for many whose love for the Beloved is not as intense as their attachment to the perishable baubles of the world!

Mechanical chanting is the only starting point we can attempt. It matures to love by grace.

Mechanical chanting is the starting phase. It will soon graduate to mental chanting and soon this mental one-pointed chanting will lead to the source of the chant, which is the truth.

The ultimate result of singing God's names is unconditional love towards one and all. Chanting the Divine names is both the means and the end.

The same scriptures also state that one should follow the words of the Guru without any doubts or questions and act accordingly.

Is chanting while doing work considered as meaningful chanting ?

Don't stop chanting for any reason. The rest of the things will be taken care of automatically.

It is not the count or time that matters. It is the intensity that matters.

Complete surrender is another name for jnana or liberation

The easiest way to surrender is to chant the Mahamantra. Continuously chant the Mahamantra

Even unwittingly uttering the name of Mukunda frees men from all the sins they might have committed - Narayaneeyam

O Lord ! Your attendants told the men of Yama "Even unwittingly uttering the name of  Mukunda frees men from all the sins they might have committed. That is the greatness of His name.  It is like fire burning wood and medicine curing diseases irrespective of whether they are taken  intentionally or unwittingly."

The one who has thus captured the Lord in their heart by Love is considered the chief among the devotees of the Lord, Bhagavatha Pradhana.

Nama Article 20th February 2013

Srimad Bhagavatam 11:2:55

विसृजति हृदयं न यस्य साक्षाद्धरिर् अवशाभिहितोऽप्य अघौघ-नाशः

प्रणय-रसनया धृताङ्घ्रि-पद्मः स भवति भागवत-प्रधान उक्तः

The utterance of the name of Hari will absolve one of all sins even when such utterance is made only when one is in great trouble or even unintentionally or unwillingly.

The devotee who has taken shelter under the Lotus Feet of the lord and Chants the Divine name with love, The Lord Hari resides in their heart and never leaves. The one who has thus captured the Lord in their heart by Love is considered the chief among the devotees of the Lord, Bhagavatha Pradhana.

Please check these: Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

The one who has no expectations on wordly desires and who accepts everything as the Will of the Lord Vasudeva is a supreme devotee (Uthama Bhagavatha).

Witnessing and accepting all the happenings in the world as His play pleases Him more than anything else.

The extremely beloved is desired; by whomsoever this Atman is extremely beloved, he becomes the most beloved of the Atman. So that this beloved may attain the Atman, the Lord Himself helps.

The one, whom all the riches of the three worlds cannot distract from the remembrance of the Lord's lotus feet even for half a second, is the foremost of all the vaishanavas.

The sooner you chant the Maha Mantra, all your sins will be wiped out. There is nothing to worry about it. I will vouch for it.

Nama Kirtan, whether done knowingly or unknowingly, certainly has to give its effect

The Name of God, chanted correctly or incorrectly, knowingly or unknowingly, carefully, is sure to give the desired result.

Whats the result of the Divine Name uttered helplessly?

A fallen, slipped or pained person is redeemed from all sins, if he cries out loudly his surrender unto Lord Hari even while sneezing

If a person Hears, Chants the Divine Name, meditates upon, worships or even offers great respect to the Supreme Lord, the Lord will remove the sins accumulated during many thousands of lifetimes.

The only certain course for success declared unanimously by all the sages of yore is the hearing, chanting, and meditation of the Glory of the Divine Name of Sri Hari.

Prayers for rains answered

There were several fervent prayer requests to HH Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji for rains from all parts of Tamilnadu following deficient rainfalls in the past one year. Sri Swamiji ordained during mid-January that Akanda Mahamantra Kirtan for 7 days (Nama Sapthaham) be organized from 13th Feb to 19th Feb 2013 in all Namadwaars and GOD satsangs across India to chant with a specific prayer request by all participants on each day for bountiful rains in Tamil Nadu.

All Namadwaars and several GOD satsangs in various districts enthusiastically organized the Nama Sapthaham and started praying fervently for the common cause of bountiful rains and prosperity. In the first two days of 13th and 14th there were reports of rains in various districts and towns of Tamilnadu like Tuticorin, Virudhunagar, Aruppukottai, Kovilpatti, Tiruvannamalai, Sivakasi, Tirunelveli, Thanjavur, Tiruthuraipundi, Madurai, Theni, Vathalagundu, Periyakulam, Cumbam etc. During the 15th to 17th, there were bountiful rains in Vellore, Mangalur, Ambur, Gudiyatham, Katpadi, Chennai etc. Water levels in major dams in Tamilnadu were on the rise including Manimuthar dam, Mettur dam etc following good rains in the catchment areas. There was record rainfall of close to 300 mm across Tamilnadu in the past 5 days from 13th to 17th Feb 2013 which was very useful for standing crops and drinking water requirements.

Wishes of gratitude are flowing in from people of all walks of life for the timely prayers which yielded immediate results. Namadwaar prays with folded hands to the Holy feet of our beloved Sri Swamiji for making this happen and continues to pray for good rains in the forthcoming days.
