The truth of the four Vedas is the Nama of the Lord “Namachivaya” and the one who chants the Divine Name with selfless love is uplifted to the glorious path

The truth of the four Vedas is the Nama of the Lord "Namachivaya" and the one who chants the Divine Name with selfless love is uplifted to the glorious path.

I have discovered a word which gives good for ever. It is the divine name Narayana.

Nama Article 25th August 2010

Thirumangai Alwar, one of the twelve vaishnavite saints, has sung ten stanzas about the divine name Narayana. One of the song runs thus:

I have discovered a word which gives good for ever. It is the divine name Narayana.

It gives social status; it gives wealth. It nullifies the griefs of the devotees,

It lifts up one to high heaven and with grace it gives salvation.

It gives strength. It gives every thing else. It does more good than even one's mother."

The man of prayer will be at peace with himself, and with the whole world

Mahathma Gandhi

There is an eternal struggle raging in man's breast between the powers of darkness and light, and he who has the sheet anchor of prayer to lay upon will not be overcome by the powers of darkness.

The man of prayer will be at peace with himself, and with the whole world. The man who moves about the world without a prayerful heart will be miserable, and also will make the world miserable.

It is a universal experience that every calamity brings the sensible man down on his knees. Millions of human beings call out for God through prayer, thus the calamities of the world are seen as a means for self-improvement.

Nama Article 19th August 2010

Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Lord Vishnu sustains the World.

What do you need to live in the world? Money (wealth). So, whom does he have beside him? Lakshmi! Goddess of Wealth! One who does 'vyavahćra' (carries on activities) needs money.

Srimad Bhagavatham 6:2:10

 सर्वेषाम् अप्य् अघवताम् इदम् एव सुनिष्कृतम्

नाम-व्याहरणं विष्णोर् यतस् तद्-विषया मतिः

sarvesam apy aghavatam idam eva suniskrtam

nama vyaharanam visnor yatas tad-visaya matih

Simply by chanting the holy name of Lord Vishnu, such persons may attract the attention of the Supreme Lord, who therefore considers, "Because this man has chanted My holy name, My duty is to give him protection."

According to Lakshmidara Kavi, the pioneer of the Nama Siddhanta tradition, the potency of the Nama Sankeerthanam can be traced to the Rig Vedas.

''Asya jananto nama cidvivaktana

mahaste visno sumatim bhajamahe"

By Chanting the Divine Names of Lord Vishnu one can attain the supreme knowledge.

Prayer really is a complete meditation and melting into the higher Self

Nama Article 17th August 2010

Mahathma Gandhi

The meaning of prayer is that I want to invoke the Divinity in me. You may describe it as a continual longing to lose myself in the Divinity, which compels us all.

Prayer really is a complete meditation and melting into the higher Self, though one may occasionally lapse into it, as a child would call out to its mother "Ah, Ma!" In such an instance, the greater the distance between the child and its Mother, the greater the longing within the heart of the child. Thus, in the mind of the child, the Mother is present in thought. And thought, you know, has a greater velocity than light.

Therefore though the distance between Him and me is told to be so incalculably far, in truth He is so very near.
