What I experience now is the inner peace that I have been looking for

Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Everyone desires peace. But it does not come by easily. Neither the rich nor the poor enjoys peace. The poor man on the platform envies the rich as he feels that wealth gives happiness. But the rich man envies the poor man on the platform thinking that he is happy, as he has no hassles attached to wealth! Each feels the other is happy while the fact is that none enjoys peace.

Krishna tells his friend Kuchela, "In this world both the rich and the poor suffer. None enjoys peace. Everyone suffers some sorrow or the other. Each, the rich and the poor, envies the other. Both yearn for shanti. How does one earn shanti? Krishna tells Kuchela, "Henceforth the world will refer to you to indicate poverty and me for the wealth as I am Dwarakadeesa. But both of us enjoy shanti. The reason for this is 'Gurohu anugrahenaiva puman puranah prasantaiye'. This is because our Guru Sandeepani blessed us when we prostrated before him at the time of taking leave of him after the completion of our studies. This is the reason for our enjoying peace.
