Deepavali is a day of celebration and not a day of worship of deities. In our religion some days are days of festival and some days are meant for worship of deities. Deepavali is a day of festivity. This day does not call for worship of any deity. Saraswati puja, Ganesha chaturti are all days of worship. But Deepavali is a day of festivity to bring joy into our hearts and mind. Mahans sing that every single day is verily Deepavali for those who have taken refuge in Krishna. Purandara dasa had thrown away his huge wealth for the sake of the Lord. His children, finding the children in the neighborhood enjoy new dress and other things sheds tears, as they could not enjoy these. Purandara dasa tells them that 'Rama Naama'(the divine name of Rama) is indeed the sugar candy. He says that the day of worship of Lord Krishna is the day of Deepavali.

May everyday be a Deepavali for all through the Grace of the Lord. 'Nitya deepavali' means everlasting joy in one's heart.
