Please enable me to influence my friends to move towards God to the extent possible and move away from the ultra-materialistic pursuits and attractions of modern day life. I find their all-knowing wise attitude very difficult to penetrate. I am not good with arguments either!

Arguments are of no use. Chant the Mahamantra regularly. That way, you become a Bhagavata. By the mere touch of a Bhagavata, others can become Bhagavatas.

Why is it that only Mahans have divine visions and blissful experiences and not ordinary people?

 

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

 

Incarnations are rare indeed and their case is different.

 

As for the rest, God does not discriminate between any of His creations. However, the divine experiences and visions depend on the extent of Sadhanas (spiritual practices) that one has performed. The sadhana that one performs is a continuation of the sadhanas of his previous births.

 

One can, no doubt, have divine visions and blissful experiences in this birth itself, if he incessantly chants the Maha Mantra with complete faith and devotion.

Not through the divine visions but through the level of your detachment to worldly matters.

 

Visions, etc., are no signs of progress. Mere performance of tapas is its progress also. Steadiness is what is required.

 

 

For him there is no need for realisation, visions, experiences, or anything else. Ram Nam is everything.

In Bhagavat Gita, Sri Krishna says I purify those devotees who worship me by way of chanting the Maha Mantra. So, by chanting the Maha Mantra, you are automatically purified and at the same time, get Sri Sri Swamiji's blessings too.

Why does Bhagavan Krishna give sufferings to even those who love him?

The hell is full of sorrows and the heaven is full of joy.  But for anyone and everyone on earth, it is a mixture of both joy and sorrow.

To forget this mixed results of joy and sorrows, we should be totally immersed in Bhagavan Krishna's eternal bliss.

It is only in order to get his most loved ones into that state, Krishna, an ocean of compassion, gives sufferings.
