Meaning

We reap what we sow

 

Thirukkural

நன்றிக்கு வித்தாகும் நல்லொழுக்கம் தீயொழுக்கம்

என்றும் இடும்பை தரும்

Meaning 

Good conduct sows seeds of blessings

Bad conduct brings endless evil.

 

Question

 

Do we have the choice to control a desire? I mean, is it destiny (prarabhdha) that controls a desire or is it a personal choice?

 

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

 

Swami Vivekananda says, 'If you are because of what you did in the past, then your future is what you are now!' So, yes, desires can be controlled.

 

Question

Is it possible to overcome fate?

 

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji: 

With the divine grace and with our effort, we can overcome fate.

 

If there is faith, then there is no fate.
