Sambandhar is saying that the Panchaksharam, which is the basis of Shiva bhakti, is the essence of the Vedas

In Thirugnanasambandhar's Thevaram, it says:

"vEdam nAnginum meipporuLAvadhu nAthan nAmam namacchivAyavE"

The five holy syllables "nama shivAya" is the divine name of Lord Shiva, who is the true purport of the four Vedas and the Lord of all! Here Sambandhar is saying that the Panchaksharam, which is the basis of Shiva bhakti, is the essence of the Vedas.
