ஸ்ரீதர் ஆச்சார்யன் தானும் பரஞ்ஞிது

பாதராயணன் தானும் அருள் செய்து

கீதயும் பரஞ்ஞீடுன்னதிங்ஙனெ

வேதவும் பஹுமாநிச்சு சொல்லுன்னு

அமோதம் பூண்டு சொல்லுவின் நாமங்ஙள்

ஆனந்தம் பூண்டு ப்ரஹ்ம்மத்தில் சேருவான்

மதியுண்டெங்கிலொக்க மதியிது

திருநாமத்தின் மாஹாத்யமாமிது

பிழையாகிலும் பிழ கேடென்னாகிலும்

திருவுள்ளம் அருள்க பகவானே

And so say Sreedhara the great scholar,

And sage Veda Vyasa who wrote the puranas.

Even Bagavad Geetha says the same,

And also so say the Vedas with respect.

So sing God's holy names easily

And with joy become one with God.

For those aiming at salvation this book is sufficient,

For it sings about greatness of  God's holy names.

எண்ணமற்ற திருநாமம் உள்ளதில்

ஒன்னு மாத்ரம் ஒரிக்கல் ஒரு தினம்

ஸ்வஸ்தன் ஆயிட்டு இருக்கும் போழெங்கிலும்

ஸ்வப்னத்தில் தான் அறியாதெ எங்கிலும்

மற்றொன்னாயி பரிஹஸிச்செங்கிலும்

மற்றொருத்தர்க்கு வேண்டியென்னாகிலும்

ஏது திக்கிலிருக்கிலும் தன்னுடே

நாவு கொண்டிது சொல்லி என்னாகிலும்

அதுமல்லொரு நேரம் ஒரு தினம்

செவி கொண்டிது கேட்டு என்னாகிலும்

ஜன்ம சாபல்யம் அப்போழே வன்னு போய்

ப்ரம்ம ஸாயுஜ்யம் கிட்டீடும் என்னேல்லோ

God's Names are numerous;

And if any one of those Names,

At least once a day, while sitting quiet at a place,

Or unawares in a dream while sleeping,

Or mocking as something else, or to satisfy some one else;

You utter with your tongue or just hear with your ears,

At that very moment, your life is fulfilled;

And you reach the Supreme abode of Brahman.

Neerpole pole yulloru dehathil,

Veerpu mathramundingane kannunu,

Orthariyathe padu padunneram,

Nerthu pokum athenne parayavu,

Athramathra mirikunna nerathu,

Keerthicheedunnilla thiru namam

Translation

In the body which is like a water bubble,

We see it filled up always,

And when we put efforts without thought,

We can tell that this bubble will only burst.

In this very limited time,

கஷ்டம் கஷ்டம் நிரூபணம் கூடாதே

சுட்டு தின்னுன்னு ஜன்மம் பழுதே நாம்

Kalaminnu kali yuga malayo,

Bharatha mi pradeshavum allayo,

Nammalellam naranmarum allayo?

Chemme nannayi nirupippin ellorum,

Hari namangal illathe pogayo,

Narakangalil pedi kuragayo,

Navu koodahe janama mathagayo,

Kashtam! Kashtam! Niroopanam koodathe,

Chuttu thinnunnu janmam pazhuthe nam.

Translation

Are we not living in Kali Yuga, in the land of Bharat?

Have we not got a human life?

Is there scarcity for the Names of the Lord?

Are we born without a tongue to chant them?

Have we no fear of the sufferings in hell?

Have we no thought about our end?

Have we any assurance of our next birth?

But, alas! We are wasting our life without concern!!!

Athra mukhya mayulloru Bharatha

Mi pradesamennu orkkanam,

Yugam nalilum nalla kali yugam,

Sugame thane mukthi varuthuvan.

Krishna , Krishna, Mukunda, Janardhana,

Krishna ,Govinda , Rama ennin gene,

Thiru nama sankeerthanam enniye,

Mattedumilla yathnam ennaarinjalum.

Translation

Please do remember that this land of Bharatha,

Is the most sacred land known,

Of all the four Ages, Kali Yuga is most suited for Mukti

Because it needs no effort other than chanting the Lord's Names

Translation

I invoke the blessings of my Guru,

So that the divine Names of the Lord

May remain always on my tongue

And make my human life fruitful.
