As the rising sun immediately dissipates all the world's darkness, which is deep like an ocean, so the holy name of the Lord, if chanted once, can dissipate all the reactions of a living being's sinful life. All glories to that holy name of the Lord, which is auspicious for the entire world!

Those who chant the Mahamantra even once in this Kali Yuga are assured of 'Moksha' (liberation)

This Bhagavatha Dharma is founded and established by Lord Sri Krishna which protects the entire world.

I have uttered the name of God; I have repeated the name of Rama or Hari. How can I be a sinner?' One must have faith in the glory of God's name

The Master had the faith of a child. He immediately pointed out, 'Then why is there dirt on my body?' Krishnakishore explained, 'The inner impurities go away and not the external dirt.'

The glory of the Divine Names cannot be understood by logic, reasoning or argument

If you utter the Divine Name of the Lord, it will eliminate all your sins without leaving any residue.

Any person who Chants the Name of Krishna even only once, no matter, whether said devoutly or disdainfully, would cross the ocean of life.

Sri Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal extols the greatness of Chanting the Divine Name of Lord Shiva by quoting the below mentioned Sloka in Srimad Bhagavatha

Japa even once uttered has its own good effect, whether the individual is aware or not.

Lord Rama says, "I vouch safe security against all living beings to one who comes to me only once and seeks protection (from me), saying " Rama, I am yours", such is my vow"

What happens to a person who in their lifetime has not been graced with the shelter of a Guru (Sadguru) and in their final moments utters Rama Nama or hears Rama Nama? Do they still attain the Divine Abode of Sri Hari?

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Yes. The Ajamila Charitra describes just this. So it is true. But it is very difficult.

While Vaideeka Dharma talks about rituals and rites, Bhagavata Dharma talks about love for God. The former is for a few to follow, while the latter is meant for everyone.

Nama Article 28th March  2015

Wish you all Happy Rama Navami!

Krishna was born on Ashtami day and Rama on Navami day. Then why do we believe that Ashtami and Navami days are inauspicious?

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Those that are applicable to normal men are not necessarily applicable to Gods.

It is because of astrological and astronomical factors that these two days are deemed as inauspicious. According to our scriptures, the days are numbered according to the state of the moon. 'Prathamai' is the first day after a full moon day or a new moon day ('prathama' means 'one' in Sanskrit.). 'Dvithiyai' this the second day, 'Truthiyai' is the third day and so on. Thus, 'Ashtami' and 'Navami' are the eighth and the nineth days after the full/new moon day. The number '8' is associated with Saturn which is a planet with 'tamasic' qualities. The number '9' is associated with Mars which is associated with Mars, a ferocious planet.

Hence these days are considered as inauspicious for men.

Such numerological and astrological factors are limited by time place and person. Hence they are not applicable to Gods.

Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

In Ramayana, we see that Rama protected the 'Yagna' (austerities) of the rishis This is Vaideeka Dharma. We also see that Rama blessed Ahalya. This is Bhagavata Dharma.

The most sacred sound in Vaideeka Dharma is 'Om'. 'Rama' is the equivalent in Bhagavata Dharma. While Vaideeka Dharma talks about rituals and rites, Bhagavata Dharma talks about love for God. The former is for a few to follow, while the latter is meant for everyone.

Wish you all Happy Rama Navami ! What's the shortest mantra of the Almighty? - "Rama"

All I know is Ram Nam. For him there is no need for realisation, visions, experiences, or anything else. Ram Nam is everything.

When one chants Rama Nama, then where is the question of rebirth?

Repeated chanting of the Name of Răma enhances prosperity! -- sweetens the tongue, too! it purifies all - from the common man to the scholar!

Rama Nama is the very essence ('saram') of all Epics, Shastras and the Vedas

Is it enough if I do not try to assimilate Rama's qualities but just surrender to Him?

Only a pious devotee can acquire Prema Bhakthi through simple devotional acts like Chanting of the Divine Name of Shri Rama

To collect people living around one's home and help them chant the Lord's Name is verily service to the Guru. Or to follow the special instruction given to him/her by the Guru is verily 'service' to the Guru.

A tree is infected with some pests. One way of combating pests is to spray pesticides on the leaves and fruits. The other, more efficient way is to treat it at the root.

Jnaneshwar was a Brahmin, Senayi was a barber, Gora kumbha was a potter, Nămadev was from the sippiya caste, Tukkaram was a vysya (business man), Raidăs was a cobbler. They were all 'amsa' (aspects) of bhaktăs (devotees of the Lord) Prahlada, Narada, Parashara, Pundariika, Vyăsa, Ambareesha, Suka, Saunaka, Bheeshma. Knowledge is not equal to love of Krishna, and the ability to perform mystic tricks is not equal to Krishna’s holy name

Nama Article 23rd March  2015

Shri Shridhara Swami

to attain 'Prema Bhakti' it will suffice if one would keep chanting 'Radhe! Radhe!

'Similarly, my friend,' the master says, 'you can sit like that forever, but you'll never be meditating or understanding truth.'

"This Para Bhakthi is not the act itself, as this Bliss does not depend on the performer but it arises out of Divine Grace". - न क्रिया कृत्यनपेक्षणाज्ज्ञानवत्

The success in singing the Name of the Supreme will be very great if the practice is followed by the grace of a saint.

Bliss is another name of Para bhakthi which also as said before arises through God's grace out of sadhana bhakthi – अव्यावृतभजनात्

The intention of continued chanting of the Divine names is to take one to the state of total selfless, unconditional LOVE

I can worship God, but how can I love LORD KRISHNA? You can love Him if you understand that Sri Krishna is pure love and love alone.

That love, can sprout only by his grace. His grace descends when we chant the Mahamantra.

Mechanical chanting is the only starting point we can attempt. It matures to love by grace.

Repetition of Name will create Love. Hari will be yours when you attain Love

Only in the company of Sadhus is 'premai' experienced in one's heart.

Feeling blessed, "How fortunate am I to have been blessed with this Nama!" one should drown Bhagavan in 'premai' - love

If you desire the company of Premikas(the Loving ones) Associate yourself with Muralidhara!

Kathaa sravanam (Listening to glories of Lord) and Nama kirtanam (Chanting the Divine Names) are the two foundation stones upon which bhakthi is built

Only a pious devotee can acquire Prema Bhakthi through simple devotional acts like Chanting of the Divine Name of Shri Rama

In this state, the devotee performs Bhakti for the love of Bhakti. This is the supreme state called as Prema Bhakti.

Sri LakshmidharaKavi – Bhagavan Nama Kaumudi

The holy name of Lord Krishna is an attractive feature for many saintly liberal people. It is the annihilator of all sinful reactions and is so powerful that save for the dumb who cannot chant it, it is readily available to everyone, including the lowest type of man. The holy name of Krishna is the controller of the opulence of liberation, and it is identical with Krishna. Simply by touching the holy name with one's tongue, immediately effects are produced. Chanting the holy name does not depend on initiation, pious activities or the purashcarya regulative principles generally observed before initiation. The holy name does not wait for all these activities. It is self-sufficient.
