This is right, this is the proper time. My son, your prayers and meditations must be accomplished now, in your youth

Nama Article 20th August 2015

"Prayer and meditation, or pilgrimage, or even earning money, all these should be done during the earlier part of one's life. ... In old age one's physical and mental strength are weakened. Is that the time for any struggle? Look at our boys here now, they have turned their minds to God in their youth. This is right, this is the proper time. My son, your prayers and meditations must be accomplished now, in your youth. Do you think you will be able to do anything later? Whatever you may want to do, this is the time for it."

It depends upon the grace of God. He bestows His grace upon anyone He likes. Grace is the important thing

Nama Article 5th August 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

"Do you know, my child, what it is like? It is just like a candy in the hand of a child. Some people beg the child to part with it. But he does not care to give it to them. Still he easily hands it over to another whom he likes. A man performs severe austerity and spiritual practices throughout his life to realize God, but he does not succeed, whereas another man gets his realization practically without any effort. It depends upon the grace of God. He bestows His grace upon anyone He likes. Grace is the important thing."

Please check these: Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Likewise, it would suffice if we do not block the Grace that is being sent out.

One can continuously Chant the Divine Names of the God only by God's grace. But, if we think we are Chanting the Names, then the Sadhana would not give result.

The easiest way to attain the Grace of Bhagavan is to chant his Năma

That love, can sprout only by his grace. His grace descends when we chant the Mahamantra.

Mechanical chanting is the only starting point we can attempt. It matures to love by grace.

Bhagavăn might (without any reason) just bestow liberation on anyone. This is very rare, though.

He whom the Self chooses, by him the Self can be gained.

Lord should desire to take you unto Him

You didn't choose me, but I chose you

Therefore with out Lord's mercy and grace by what other means can one expect to realize the true nature - महद्-अनुग्रहम् अन्तरेण

You may do crores of japa, dhayna; do anything; but, unless Bhagavăn Wills to take you unto Him no amount of your sadhana will bear fruit.

Only through causeless mercy does He reveals Him

By the mere Will of God even the lowliest of the low can, in a matter of a second, receive the Grace and become a Jnăni.

Even if he gets a single good thought or recites the Divine Names of God once, the first thought that comes to him is, 'this happened because of the boundless grace of my Guru'!

When one believes in the grace of the Lord alone and totally surrenders to Him, he is liberated in the very same birth.

Likewise, it would suffice if we do not block the Grace that is being sent out.

God's grace always flows in abundance. It is upto you to be ready to receive it.

God's boundless grace though, is immeasurable, limitless and infinite!

Do Japa and meditation. When the mind is not in a good mood to meditate, do not force it to do so.

Nama Article 19th July 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

Disciple: "I find it impossible to meditate. Please awaken my Kundalini."

Mother: "It will awaken in the course of time. Do Japa and meditation. It does not rise of itself. Continuous meditation will make the mind so steady that you will not feel inclined to give it up. When the mind is not in a good mood to meditate, do not force it to do so. In such conditions, get up from the seat of meditation after making prostrations. Real meditation is of a spontaneous nature."

When one sits down for Japa, God’s Name will continue rising up from the mind naturally and not with effort

Nama Article 24th June 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

Why should not one have concentration and mediation if the mind is pure? Why should not one have God-vision?

When one sits down for Japa, God's Name will continue rising up from the mind naturally and not with effort.

If you don't call upon God — indeed many people never even remember Him — what does it matter to Him?

Nama Article 21st June 2015

"If you don't call upon God — indeed many people never even remember Him — what does it matter to Him? It is your own misfortune. Such is the Maya of God, He keeps them ignorant of Him saying, 'They are happy enough, let them be so!'"

"Whatever you yearn for, that you will get."

Whether you jump into water or are pushed into it, your cloth will get drenched. Is it not so? Meditate every day, as your mind is yet immature

Nama Article 14th June 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

Disciple: "Is it of any use to be merely repeating His Name without intense devotion?"

Mother: "Whether you jump into water or are pushed into it, your cloth will get drenched. Is it not so? Meditate every day, as your mind is yet immature. Constant meditation will make the mind one-pointed. Discriminate always between the real and the unreal.

Whenever you find your mind drawn to any object, think of its transitoriness, and thus try to withdraw the mind back to the thought of God. A man was angling.

A bridal party was going along the road with music. But the angler's eye remained fixed on the float. The mind of a spiritual aspirant should be steadfast like that."

Do Japa. Realization will come through Japa. If the meditative mood comes, well and good, but by no means do it by force.

Nama Article 7th June 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

Disciple: "Mother, why is it that the mind does not become steady? When I try to think of God, I find the mind drawn towards other objects."

Mother: "It is wrong if the mind is drawn towards secular objects. By 'secular objects' is meant money, family, etc. But it is natural to think of the work in which one is engaged. If meditation is not possible, do Japa. Realization will come through Japa. If the meditative mood comes, well and good, but by no means do it by force."

While repeating the Name, the mind will get fixed of itself on the ideal, like a candle flame in a place protected from the wind

Nama Article 31st May 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

Disciple: "Why is it that our mind is not absorbed in God when we repeat His Name?"

Mother: "It will come about in due course. Even if the mind is not concentrated, do not give up the repetition of the holy Word. You do your duty. While repeating the Name, the mind will get fixed of itself on the ideal, like a candle flame in a place protected from the wind. It is the wind alone that makes the flame flicker. In the same way, our fancies and desires make our mind restless."

It can be done if one repeats the Name fifteen or twenty thousand times each day

Nama Article 26th May 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

A disciple had written "I cannot calm my mind and concentrate" and so on. Mother became agitated at these words and said, "It can be done if one repeats the Name fifteen or twenty thousand times each day. I have seen it actually happen. Let him do that first and talk afterwards if it fails. One must put one's mind to it. But no one will do that. They only complain 'Why does nothing come of it?'"

Do not give up Japa even if the mind is unwilling and unsteady. You must go on with the repetition.

Nama Article 22nd May 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

Do not give up Japa even if the mind is unwilling and unsteady. You must go on with the repetition. And you will find that the mind is getting gradually steadier-like a flame in a windless corner. Any movement in the air disturbs the steady burning of the flame; even so the presence of any thought or desire makes the mind unsteady.

Whatever the time be, you must do Japa every day. It is not good to forgo it any day.

Nama Article 3rd May 2015

Source: Teachings of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi

What a lot of work I did when I was your age! And yet I could find time to repeat my Mantra a hundred thousand times everyday!

True it is that there is no hard and fast rule about the time of Japa, yet morning and evening are the favorable periods. Whatever the time be, you must do Japa every day. It is not good to forgo it any day.

Please check these: Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Catch hold of this divine Name and go on doing your work in the world.

Hanuman worked tirelessly for Rama. He also performed incessant Rama japa. We should also be like this.

Nothing we earn today would come with us to the final destination but only the Divine Name WILL

While you concentrate on your studies and prepare yourself for your future, you also need God's grace.

At the same time performing activities without spiritual practices is meaningless. We should learn to be like Hanuman by balancing both types of activities.

To achieve this goal I try to chant His name but am not able to do it continuously because it is involved in worldly activities

Chanting the Name of Răma, Hanuman crossed the ocean! -- and, lifted the mountain!

Mountain sized sorrows melt away like the fog!

Keep Chanting, even while engaged in the activities of the world

One should constantly repeat the names of God irrespective of any activity that he might be involved in

Keep the Name of the Lord spinning in midst of all your activities. Have intense faith in God, and in His Name, know that they are not different.

Repeating His name will make your mind steadfast like the flame of a lamp protected from wind.

Nama Article 2nd April  2015

Source: Gospel of Holy Mother Sarada Devi

KOALPARA 4th June 1919

Disciple: Mother, shall I keep count while I do Japa?

Mother: If you count while you do Japa, your attention will be drawn to the counting. Do Japa without counting.

Disciple: Why doesn't my mind get absorbed while doing Japa?

Mother: You will succeed through practice. Don't give up your practice of Japa, even if your mind doesn't become steady. Do your spiritual practice ardently. Repeating His name will make your mind steadfast like the flame of a lamp protected from wind. Wind makes a flame unsteady. Similarly, desires prevent the mind from becoming concentrated.

If one but sticks to a little practice, how much joy comes to one!

Nama Article 25th March  2015

"The boys all come and solicit me earnestly for initiation. They get it and depart. But they don't make their Japa regularly — why regularly, some do nothing at all. ... They take the Mantra with so much sincerity; but why do they not practise at all? Not that it is very hard. If one but sticks to a little practice, how much joy comes to one! Ah! With what joy and for how long Jogen (Jogin-Ma) and myself used to make Japa at Vrindavan

"As that timepiece is ticking, so also go on repeating God's Name. That will bring you everything. Nothing more need be done"

Nama Article 22nd March  2015

A devotee asked her, "Mother, what is the secret?" She pointed to a small timepiece in a niche and said, "As that timepiece is ticking, so also go on repeating God's Name. That will bring you everything. Nothing more need be done."

Having compassion of the Lord as the foundation, the one which has no rules, the one which can eradicate the force of Kali, Namakirtanam is the only resort.
