Srimad Bhagavatham 4:20:9

 

यः स्व-धर्मेण मां नित्यं निराशीः श्रद्धयान्वितः

भजते शनकैस् तस्य मनो राजन् प्रसीदति

 

The mind of the Man who daily worships Me by Chanting my Divine Names with reverence and performing one's own duty expecting nothing from me, is gradually purified.

This is not a matter that comes about either on its own or suddenly. That which arises suddenly might disappear just as suddenly.

Is chanting while doing work considered as meaningful chanting ? 

Catch hold of this divine Name and go on doing your work in the world

Don't stop chanting for any reason. The rest of the things will be taken care of automatically. 

The name of God is more powerful than the senses. It will become all right in time if you practise regularly.
