ஒருவர் அவருடைய வீட்டில் தங்கியிருக்க அனுமதி கொடுத்ததோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல், நமக்கு வேண்டிய வசதிகள் அனைத்தும் செய்து கொடுப்பாரானால், மனசாட்சி உள்ளவனுக்கு "இவ்வளவு நமக்கு பார்த்து பார்த்து செய்யும் அவருக்கு, உபயோகமுள்ளபடியாக நாம் ஏதாவது செய்ய வேண்டும்" என்று நினைப்பான் அல்லவா!

அதுபோல், இந்த உலகமே நமக்கு பகவான் கொடுத்துள்ள வீடு. அதில் நமக்கு வேண்டிய வசதிகளும் செய்து கொடுத்துள்ளான். அப்படியிருக்க மனசாட்சி உள்ளவன், அவன் சந்தோஷப்படும்படியும் அவனுக்கு உபயோகமுள்ளதான, ஒரு காரியம் அவசியம் செய்ய வேண்டுமல்லவா! அது என்னவென்றால், "நாம் மஹாமந்திரம் கீர்த்தனம் செய்து கொண்டு பிறரையும் செய்ய வைக்க வேண்டியதுதான்" ஆகும்.

தியானம் , நாமஜபம், ஆத்ம விசாரம் போன்ற ஸாதனைகளை பலகாலம் பழகி வந்தும் , இதனால் எந்த வித முன்னேற்றமும் ஏற்படவில்லையென்றால் , இவைகள் எல்லாம் வீண். இவைகளால் எந்தப்பலனும் கிடைக்கப்போவதில்லை என்று தோன்றும்.

ஆனால், இதே மார்க்கத்தைப் பின்பற்றி அதன்மூலம் உயர்ந்த நிலையை அடைந்து இன்றைக்கும் வாழ்ந்து வரும் பெரியோர்களைப் பார்க்கும்பொழுதுதான் , மார்க்கத்தில் தவறு இல்லை. தவறு நம்மிடம்தான் உள்ளது என்பது புலனாகும்.

Obstacles should not daunt you. Every unfavorable circumstance should all the more steel your purpose and strengthen your will. You should be calm and determined, for you have to put up a stiff fight with all the subversive forces that seek to keep you in the thralldom of a relative arid ignorant life.

He who has turned away from the Lord loses the memory (of his real self), thanks to His Maya, and falls a prey to the erroneous belief that the body is one's own self. He is then seized with fear engendered by identification with the body (which is other than the self).

Therefore, a discerning person should worship Him with exclusive devotion by Chanting His Divine Names, looking upon his preceptor as the Deity as well as his own self.

These days it doesn't rain at all. Everybody prays that it should rain. If we ask why there is no rain, it is said that the reason is that people do not live according to dharma, and hence there is no rain. If that is the case, instead of just praying only for rain, it will be better if we pray for both together -that people should follow dharma as well as that it should rain.

When we say one should live according to dharma, the question arises as to which dharma we mean? The dharma that is suited for this age is Bhagavatadharma. Praying that everybody should live in line with Bhagavatadharma will be the right thing to do.

On a blessed, beautiful evening, in the serene precincts of Madhura Puri Ashram, Sri Sri Swamiji was singing the Mahamantra Kirtan in his sweetest voice. Some of the devotees gathered there sat around him and repeated the Kirtan. At that time, a young man walked in , his forehead smeared with holy ashes. He came near Swamiji and asked , " Swamiji, God is known by so many different names and his incarnations are also infinite but you are singing only the names of Rama and Krishna". Obviously he was referring to the chanting of Mahamantra. "Why is that so, Swamiji"? Sri Sri Swamiji looked at the young man for a long moment and asked him, " What else do you want me to do?". The man replied, "Why don't you repeat the holy name of Lord Shiva instead"? Sri Swamiji replied, ' By all means, young man" and started chanting, "Shiva,Shiva,Shiva. A devotee who was listening to this conversation came up to Swamiji and asked, " Swamiji, I have a doubt, Our Itihaasas and Puranas have mentioned the power of "Ashtakshari Mantra" repeatedly. Why not chant the name of Lord of Vaikunta then"?. Sri Swamiji replied immediately, " Why not? Let's chant the Ashtakshari and started chanting " Narayana, Narayana, Narayana".

Another person sitting nearby and witnessing the entire exchange came up to Sri Swamiji, confusion writ on his face." Does it mean that DEVI is a lesser God and not to be worshipped? "Can't we not chant her name"? Sri Swamiji replied calmly, " Indeed, yes, we can chant and started chanting "Shakti,Shakti, Shakti" Now there was no end to the confusion of these three people. One of them asked Swamiji, " How can we accept this? How can a name of the God indicate a particular religion or form?? Is HE not common to everybody? Then does not that mean that we can all chant any name we like"? Sri Swamiji replied in his inimitable style. " Yes, Certainly, each name is unique and chanting of each name has its own merits." He went on to elucidate further, " While any name of the God is suitable, Is it not better if we chant a name prescribed in the Vedas ? Moreover, it propitiates not only Rama and Krishna, but one's Ishta Devata also!" Can there be a better name to chant then?" Swamiji asked with a smile. Sri Swamiji continued, " That is why, I chant this Mahamantra without any prejudice. The Mahamatra is prescribed by the Vedas too". The chant of Mahamatra Kirtan in Sri Swamiji's majestic voice soon filled the Madhura Puri Ashram, "Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare!!
