ஸ்ரீராமாவதாரத்திற்கு முன்பே வசிஷ்டர், வால்மீகி போன்ற ரிஷிகள் 'ராம' நாமத்தை ஜபம் செய்து முக்தி அடைந்தார்கள். ராமருடைய சம காலத்தில், சபரி ஜபம் செய்து, ராமர் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு இருக்கும்பொழுதே முக்தி அடைந்தாள். ராமருடைய காலத்திற்கு பிறகும், இன்று வரை, ஹனுமார் ராம நாமத்தை ஜபம் செய்து வருகின்றார். ராம நாமம்  சாஸ்வதமானது.
