One cannot ordinarily be expected to take the Lord’s Name precisely at the moment of death

Nama Article 4th October 2015

Srimad Bhagavatham 6:2:13

अथैनं मापनयत कृताशेषाघ-निष्कृतम्

यद् असौ भगवन्-नाम म्रियमाणः समग्रहीत्

Vishnu dhoothas tell Yama dhoothas, "Do not take the soul of this man by a wrong path (the path of the sinners) as he has done atonement for all his sins in that he articulated the Lord's Name and at a time when he was about to die (when there was no possibility of his reverting to the path of sin and thereby incurring any more sin; for one cannot ordinarily be expected to take the Lord's Name precisely at the moment of death).

Please check these: Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

We would remember something at the crucial time of death only if we practice remembering it all our life. That is why the easy dharma of 'Nama Sankirtan' is being advocated.

The highest perfection of human life is to remember the God's Name at the end of life.

The best way to help a person attain salvation on his death bed is to Chant the Mahamantra loudly in his ears.

Who remains fearless of death?

Why I cant postpone chanting?

Likewise every moment spent in gossip and worthless talk is a signal and an invitation to Yama ( God of Death) to come and finish us off!

Nothing we earn today would come with us to the final destination but only the Divine Name WILL

Lord Rama says, "Any accumulated wealth will dissolve in due time. Any position of power attained will come to an end. All the relations (children, wife) come to an end in death. There is nothing in this world that is permanent."

I spent all my energy and all my moments in life acquiring all of these possessions and wealth and now......I cannot get back even one moment

The only companion for our last journey is the Divine name.

Practice now or it may be never

Chant the Mahamantra Nama kirtan :

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
