The Names of the Lord are capable of giving all sorts of comforts and happiness.

 

Eligibility is not a criterion for this. People belonging to any caste and creed irrespective of their gender can attain the lotus feet of God by chanting His names. There are also no restrictions regarding place, time, land or any other factors for the Divine name.

The Right Contact Number

 

'When you wish to talk to someone over telephone, you just don't start speaking soon after picking up the instrument, do you?  Don't you need to know and dial the person's contact number first?', Sri Sri Swamiji asked.

 

We knew that Sri Sri Swamiji was trying to convey something important in His own unique style – in a simple language that we can understand…

 

Sri Sri Swamiji continued… "Likewise, when you wish to speak to God and place your prayers before Him, you need to know the right contact number.  And that contact number is verily the 'Mahamantra'.  It is only by chanting the Mahamantra that you can expect the Lord to answer your prayers!"

The benefits of Chanting the Divine Name may be grouped under physical, moral, mental and spiritual aspects of the inner communion.

 

Divine Name (Naam) keeps the mind and body in a state of equipoise (state of being balanced). Peace reigns supreme in its devotee; the ramifications of mind are done away with forever. All lusts cease to have their hold on the mind. The brain gets a soothing balm. It puts an end to wasteful hurry, and with it go all nervous tensions and mental strains and stress.

 

Naam gives one immunity from all bodily and worldly pains and troubles. By withdrawing the attention within, the mind is stilled and the soul is freed of all mental conflicts. Even the sense of egotism itself-the most ancient malady-loses itself into airy nothing and with it, the perpetual dance of coming in and going out of the world comes to an end. The process of transmigration of tlie soul is but the natural concomitant of the self-assertive will or egotism.

When all other mantras are subdued by Kali, it is only the ‘Hare Rama..’ Mantra that can subdue the Kali and prevail over it.

Nomenclature – Mahamantra

 

A person can be acclaimed the most powerful only when he defeats the strongest opposition in the group.

 

When can a Mantra be called as a Mahamantra?  Only when it emerge stronger than  the strongest effects in the current age. 

 

In this age, numerous efforts have been taken by many a Mahatma to establish various Dharmas like Sthree Dharma, Grahasta Dharma, etc. and numerous paths to reach the Lord. Despite all such efforts, what stands unshaken till this day is undoubtedly 'lokayatham' or materialism! This is because 'Kali' subdues every other Dharma and Mantra and establishes itself above everything else.  Thus, Kali is undoubtedly the vilest and strongest in this age.

 

Thus when all other mantras are subdued by Kali, it is only the 'Hare Rama..' Mantra that can subdue the Kali and prevail over it.

 

Hence it has been aptly named as the 'Mahamantra'!
